About Us

The Gavin Menzies Research Foundation is a UK registered charity that was set up to create a focal point to continue the research and writings of Gavin Menzies. Menzies was a proponent of the “diffusionist” hypothesis, which proposes that early man had been crossing the oceans for years before the European “voyages of discovery.”

The Gavin Menzies research team was initially set up to receive and disseminate all information received via his legacy website, www.gavinmenzies.net

Supporting Discovery: Our Commitment to Academic and Scientific Research

Our Purpose:
The Gavin Menzies Research Foundation is a UK-based grant-giving charity dedicated to funding innovative research in archaeology, with a focus on exploring diffusionism and ancient maritime civilisations. Established to honour Gavin Menzies’ pioneering work, GMRF provides essential resources to academic and scientific projects that seek to uncover the history of early exploration.

Our Team:
Our team bring together expertise in archaeology, history, and exploration to guide GMRF’s mission. We are united in our commitment to advancing knowledge through academic grants that support cutting-edge research across the globe.

Our Focus:
Through our grant programmes, we partner with archaeologists, historians, and institutions to fund projects that expand our understanding of early global connections. GMRF aims to empower researchers with the resources they need to bring hidden histories to light.

Details of our trustees can be found on the UK Charities Commission website.
